There are currently two main training programs for professionals. As the creator of the Shark Cage, Ursula is the only professional authorised to provide formal training to other professionals.
The Shark Cage framework can be used in prevention and healing work.
Ursula has had the privilege of travelling to hundreds of communities in Australia, Vanuatu and Fiji to deliver this innovative and hands on training. Professionals in family violence, education, counselling, youth work, family support, justice and mental health have found the training instantly helpful across their varied roles and client groups.
Participants have opportunities to practice interventions and activities to deepen their experiential learning of the 5 Step framework. On this page you will see Darwin workers creating a Shark Cage Mural of Human Rights. Some workers from the YWCA Women of Worth program went on to successfully deliver Shark Cage groups to women in Darwin’s Correctional facility. Meeting workers and hearing about their work and communities is a highlight for Ursula.
This training now has a digital delivery option to increase world-wide worker access to this highly regarded Foundational training in The Shark Cage.
The original foundational Shark Cage training provides the broad knowledge and skills needed to use the 5 Step Shark Cage framework in individual or group settings with clients.
The Shark Cage: A Practical Framework for Prevention and Addressing Re-victimisation in Girls & Women. This is the foundational training that is recommended for those wanting to utilise the Shark Cage Group Program Manual: A Human Rights Approach to Empowerment & Healing for Women who have Experienced Sexual Assault & Family Violence in group and individual settings with adult women.
